I've Created Some Woodworking Plans But How Can I Put Them in The Public Domain?

If you are a true craftsman and are very good at woodwork, it is your official right and duty to share some of your best woodworking plans with those who would love to create furniture themselves.

When deciding to upload your woodworking plans on the internet, you will have the choice to either exercise your copyrights over it or you can also put them in the public domain.

If you wish your work to be freely available over the internet in the Public Domain, you just need to post the words that you are assigning rights to anybody and everybody to access and copy your information without any legal restrictions. Some theories argue that posting just a statement of devoting the information to the Public Domain does not take copyrights away from the information provider and he/she will still have the power to lawfully sue the person copying the information. In order to stop such a problem from occurring, some websites give out a Public Domain dedication form, which confirms the devotion by generating a receipt which safeguards any possible legal allegations. This saves the creator of the woodworking plan and the copyright authorities a lot of time and confusion in the future.

Apart from this, you can also use an open access license to act in the same way. It is good to share your work with the world, but stay away from any possible legal issues. These legal issues can take all the fun out of woodworking and will make you think twice about working on wood again.
